What is UK Intra-Company Transfer Visa?

A “company transfer visa” is a type of work visa that permits employees to relocate to a different branch or subsidiary of the company they currently work for in another nation, allowing them to continue working for the same organisation but in a different location. In many jurisdictions, this type of visa is referred to as an “intra company transfer visa,” with the L-1 visa in the United States being the most known example.

An applicant must have a verified UK employment offer from their present employer’s UK branch to be eligible to pursue this immigration option. The employer must provide the applicant with a CoS and possess a current Intra-company Transfer sponsorship permit.

No proficiency in English is required. Additionally, compared to applications for skilled worker visas, the applicant and their business do not need to get a Restricted CoS, which drastically cuts down on processing times. Corporate executives who own any shares in UK companies are eligible to apply for the UK using the intra-company transfer visa route since there are no limits on their ownership of shares.

Unlike skilled worker migrants, applicants with the intra-company transfer visa cannot request ILR in the UK after five years.

There are two subcategories of the intra-company category.

  1. Intra-Company transfer
  2. Intra-Company Graduate Trainee

Intra Company Graduate Trainee

Graduate trainees enrolled in programs for specialised positions are eligible for the intra-company graduate trainee visa. The candidate must be a recent graduate with at least three months of experience working for a company abroad in order to qualify for this subcategory.
